Fully-Integrate Life:
is sensible
(Titus 1:8)
As followers of Jesus, we have a different model for success. We do not base our vision of Leadership on the worlds system. Instead, we have a vision of what it means to be a spiritual person. Leadership, for the Christian, is servant leadership. And, servant leaders think about helping others succeed.
Do you want to keep growing as a servant leader? We can not let the world system teach us how to think or we will not be thinking about helping others succeedwe will only think about ourselves.
Servant leaders are:
SENSIBLE
This is another compound word in the original language: Sophron
It comes from these two words:
Sozo: to save
Phren: mind
Sometimes it is translated sober-minded or self-controlled but it literally means: to think like a saved person.
The sensible, sober person does not let anyone or anything control his mind. He does not allow circumstances, or any other outside influence, to pull his mind into things that will hinder his walk with God.
We live in a day where technology bombards our minds with graphic information and opportunities to be entertained and amused. As servant leaders we must fight the war in our soul and make sure we keep thinking like saved people. Remember the verse we looked at yesterday:
let your mind dwell on these things (Phil. 4:8).
We have to set our minds (Col 3) and seek the Kingdom of God. (Matt 5)
God saved our souls to make us fit for heaven. But eternal life is not something that we get when we die. We have eternal life now! He wants us to see all of life through the lens of our salvation. We need to think like saved people!
Father,
Today as we gather for worship, let the songs of our faith fill our hearts with hope.
Let the study of Your Word wash our minds with truth.
Deliver me, save me, from thinking like the system of this world.
I commit to thinking like a saved person so that I can serve others for Your glory!
In Jesus Name, Amen
